Day 3 Read: Psalm 29:11
May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace!
Reflect: What two blessings are offered by the Psalmist?
Consider: Strength is not bodily strength but the strength of the nation, prosperous and able to defend itself from its enemies. Strength must often be recast as a verb; for example, “The Lord strengthens his people,” or as a causative, “The Lord makes his people powerful.”
Peace stands not just for cessation of hostilities, but for well-being, prosperity, happiness, success.
Reflect: How do the two terms “strength” and “peace” tie together? Under what circumstances do they fit together? What makes God uniquely qualified to offer both? How can they be realized in your life?
