Day 3 Read: Ephesians 1:11-14
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Reflect: What stands out in this passage about our inheritance in Christ?
Consider: Finally, in Christ, we are enriched. We have been chosen and predestined according to God’s plan to receive an inheritance which we will possess in full when we stand before him in heaven. This inheritance is not an accident or a whim. It is in keeping with God’s plan for us from the beginning.
Respond: How do you blend the two promises of inheritance in Matthew 5:5 and Ephesians 1:11-14? How are they related? How does the Ephesians passage clarify the promise in the Beatitudes?
