Day 2 Read: 1 John 2:9-10
Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. 10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.
Reflect: Why is it important that we see the command to love one another as a commandment from the beginning?
What does doing so show us about the nature and character of God?
Consider: This warning is clearly intended for Christians as the words “his brother” plainly show. An unsaved person can indeed hate a brother of physical kin, but since he has no spiritual kin he cannot really hate his (spiritual) brother.
Respond: Think about a time when someone loved you in a manner similar to how Jesus does. How did that experience bring light to your situation?
