Mission Statement: Develop Disciples and Equip Disciplers
"A disciple is one who learns from Jesus to live like Jesus out of a love for Jesus."
"A discipler is one who makes Jesus known by sharing what they have seen."
Jordan Whittington | College Pastor
I have been married to my college crush/girlfriend Carlin since 2011 - so there is hope in finding love. We love to spend our time exploring new places, eating good food, and watching sports. In May 2017, we added to our family Cooper so now much of our time is spent keeping him clean, fed, and sleeping.
I graduated from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) with a degree in Secondary Education (Math) in 2010 as well as Beeson Divinity School with my Master of Divinity in 2014. Prior to joining the team at FBC-CS, I served as a Student Pastor just outside Atlanta, Ga.
Why I love my job: College was the most spiritually transforming time for Carlin and me. During our 4 years at Alabama, our faith became our own, Jesus became our guide, and we desired to pour ourselves deeply into his ministry! We have a burden to cultivate this in college students as we share what we have seen and give our lives to campus ministry.
For the 2019-2020 school year, we have a group of 24 students who are committed to following Jesus while helping others journey with them. Our student leaders serve by leading small groups, connecting students to our church, engaging our campus, and serving our community.
Our ministry is blessed with a great group of adult leaders who graciously offer their time, homes, resources, and wisdom to students each week. These leaders desire to connect with students and provide help in any way that they can. Being a church that values all ages, it is great to have such faithful and servant-minded adults who serve our students in so many ways.
